What is a certified arborist?

An arborist is a tree care professional educated in arboriculture.   After several years of on the job training experience and course work, an arborist takes a certification test administered by the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA).  Upon passing the test, he or she becomes a certified arborist.  Continuing education is necessary to maintain certification similar to other professions such as accounting, law or medicine.
